San Joaquin County SELPA is committed to community involvement, interagency, collaboration, and participates in statewide and local collaborative efforts that focus support on the needs of special education students, parents, and educators. Some of our many collaborative efforts include:
Autism Connection is focused on the needs, services and issues related to individuals diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). With representatives from six SELPAs, agencies and parents, the Autism Connection sponsors the Annual Autism Collaborative Forum, typically hosted yearly in April. Autism Connection meetings are held quarterly at the San Joaquin County Office of Education.
Positive Environments, Network of Trainers (PENT) is a California Positive Behavior Initiative designed to provide information and resources for educators striving to achieve high educational outcomes through the use of proactive positive strategies leading to lasting behavioral change.
California Autism Professional Training and Information Network (CAPTAIN) is a cross agency network supporting the understanding and use of evidence-based practices (EBPs) for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), across the state of California. CAPTAIN’s efforts include the nomination and selection of statewide members who will receive instruction on how to facilitate trainings, cross agency collaboration and dissemination of EBPs in their respective geographic regions.
