The Teachers College of San Joaquin (TCSJ) IMPACT Program is a teaching credential program accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). Working in partnership with a consortium of local school districts and educational agencies, the IMPACT Program offers an alternative pathway (intern-model) for candidates to earn a teaching credential and prepares teachers for service in TK-12 general education and special education settings. IMPACT candidates begin their teaching careers as University Interns and are employed* and paid by a local school district while serving as the “teacher of record” for an elementary, middle or high school classroom. IMPACT candidates work closely with a university provided Support Supervisor and attend evening classes twice a week for two years to earn a Preliminary Teaching Credential.
*Interns who are admitted into the TCSJ IMPACT Program must be employed in a face-to-face instructional setting aligned to the credential they are seeking. One-on-one and/or independent study programs do not qualify.
Program Highlights:
- • Earn your credential while you teach
- • Tuition is a fraction of the cost of most other teacher preparation schools
- • Receive invaluable teacher support; you are not left on your own
- • Class times are in the evenings
Candidates can apply coursework from the intern programs towards a Master’s degree in Education at TCSJ. To learn more about the IMPACT Program, visit visit www.teacherscollegesj.edu, or call (209) 468.4926.
