To assure quality applicants for teaching and non-teaching positions in school districts and local agencies, the San Joaquin County Office of Education’s Human Resources Department acts like a veritable “safety net.”

Through its highly-sophisticated electronic fingerprinting system, “LiveScan,” the office completes background checks on applicants for employment in school districts and agencies throughout the San Joaquin County and surrounding areas. This service assures that all new school employees have been thoroughly checked by the Department of Justice.

The Human Resources department has reopened on a modified schedule. To maintain COVID-19 physical distancing protocols and to provide safeguards, services are currently available by appointment only.

To protect your safety and the safety of our employees, it is requested that you reschedule your appointment and DO NOT enter a San Joaquin County Office of Education facility if you have COVID-19 symptoms such as: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, and/or if you have been asked to self-quarantine or have exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

Fingerprinting Requirements

  • • Call (209) 468-9145 or email fp@sjcoe.net to schedule an appointment; NO walk-ins allowed.
  • • Bring all required items listed below to your appointment.
  • • All appointments will take place in the Nelson Building at 2922 Transworld Drive. Please enter at the South entrance (facing Arch Road) through the double doors.
  • • A face mask must be worn upon entry into the building in order to be fingerprinted.
  • • Only the person who is listed on the email with the appointment confirmation will be allowed entrance into the building.
  • Upon arrival we ask that you check in with the receptionist before you go upstairs to the Human Resources lobby. Upon entering the lobby, we ask that you wash your hands with warm water and soap for a minimum of 20 seconds and have a seat outside the fingerprinting office. Soon after, one of our HR Technicians will greet you.

Please bring the following items to your appointment:

  • • Your appointment confirmation email; hard copy preferred
  • • A Government-issued identification (ID) with a picture
  • • A Live Scan form provided by your employer/licensing board/organization
  • • Payment (money order or credit/debit card only); No cash or personal checks will be accepted
  • • A blue or black pen
