The Language & Literacy Department provides high quality professional learning opportunities to help teachers, paraprofessionals, coaches/specialists, and administrators develop expertise in curriculum, instruction, and assessment using the ELA/ELD Framework to guide the implementation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English Language Arts (ELA)/Literacy and the California English Language Development (ELD) Standards. We provide leadership and support in the following areas:
- • Classroom application of the ELA/ELD standards and framework
- • English learner program design and implementation including integrated and designated ELD
- • Title III
- • EL authorizations
- • Bilingual program development and implementation
- • Spanish language development
Our approach to ongoing professional learning includes workshops, institutes, and follow-up coaching which can be tailored to individual district/school needs.
