School districts, county offices of education and other local educational agencies provide an array of services that links students to health care within the public school system. These linkages help students receive the health care services that in turn promote optimal learning. Linkages to health care services and health care providers within the educational setting and into the community are reimbursed by Medicaid as an administrative activity. Through these existing activities, school districts pull down federal dollars that promote reimbursement for services. Anyone can participate in Medi-Cal Administrative Activities (MAA) and capture reimbursement as long as they interface with students and provide these linkages.
