The A-Squad

The A-Squad is a team of individuals that conduct home visits in order to identify truancy barriers, establish relationships, and provide greater connection to resources.

The team is designed to put more of an emphasis on providing positive services to prevent truancy while also using a countywide approach by uniting school districts, agencies, nonprofits, and the community at large.

The A-Squad's mission statement: We construct a student support system with daily outreach to eliminate barriers that contribute to truancy.

The Power of a Home Visit

A home visit from the A-Squad is a personal and positive approach to fight truancy by motivating and assisting students in overcoming challenges and barriers.

On a home visit, the A-Squad uses a variety of tools to help students return to school:

  • Providing alternatives
  • Tips to improve attendance
  • Transportation resources
  • Truancy Information
  • Answering questions
  • Clarifying misunderstandings
  • Updating student information
  • Setting enrollment appointments
  • Positive encouragement notes
