A vacancy occurred on the San Joaquin County Board of Education (Board) by the resignation of Board member Douglas I. Vigil, effective July 18, 2024. The resignation was filed in the office of Dr. Troy A. Brown, San Joaquin County Superintendent of Schools on July 3, 2024. Mr. Vigil represented Trustee Area 3.
On August 30, 2024, the Board provisionally appointed Jesus Andrade to fill the vacancy caused by Mr. Vigil, until the next regularly scheduled election for county office of education Board members in June 2026. Mr. Andrade will be administered the oath of office at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
Unless a petition calling for a special election pursuant to Education Code Section 5091, containing a sufficient number of signatures, is filed in the office of the County Superintendent of Schools within 30 days of the date of the provisional appointment, it shall become final.
