Durham Ferry Open Trails Day

Join us outdoors for a day of nature, fun, and community at Durham Ferry Outdoor Education Center!

We invite you and your family to our Open Trail Saturday events (dogs on leash welcome!) where you can join a guided 3-mile hike to the San Joaquin River and explore the local riparian ecosystem with staff. These days are designed to elevate your weekend; encouraging physical activity amidst nature’s beauty. Foster new friendships, learn new skills, and enjoy a rejuvenating experience in the great outdoors.

 

August 24, 2024: Scavenger Hunt and Forager’s Art

Make your own natural pigments and dyes!

 

September 21, 2024: Coastal Cleanup Day

10:00am – 1:00pm

California's largest annual volunteer event. Pitch in to clean up the San Joaquin River. Time to relax at the beach, too!

 

February 22, 2025: Foraging Medicinal Plants

10:00am – 1:00pm

Harvest nettles, mugwort, and more! Discover unique medicinal properties with a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) demo & tastings!

 

April 26, 2025: DIY Seed Bursts

10:00am – 1:00pm

April showers bring May flowers. Befriend the pollinators and craft a seed burst!

 

May 17, 2025: Survival Skills

10:00am – 1:00pm

Construct a shelter, design a water filter, learn mapping skills and cardinal directions – build your own compass!
