The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting what students need to know and be able to do to be successful in the 21st century world of college and careers. The standards provide a consistent and clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, and what they will be assessed on. This results in clear direction for educators and parents so they can support students in their learning.
San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE) is dedicated to supporting schools and districts as they transition to the CCSS. Collaborative work will include professional learning opportunities to examine, select, and implement curricula, instructional strategies, and assessments aligned to Common Core learning goals for all students. SJCOE’s goal is to support districts as they build capacity at all levels to support teachers, students, and school communities.
