In November 2012, the State Board of Education adopted the 2012 English Language Development (ELD) Standards. The new K-12 Standards identify the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of English language development in students learning English as a new language. In order to properly prepare them for college and career, ELD Standards will teach them how to access, engage, and understand academic content.
