In this workshop, participants will deepen their understanding of the 3 Dimensional learning and experience what it is like to figure out how a phenomena works by engaging in the disciplinary core ideas, scientific and engineering practice and crosscutting concepts in the process students deepen the knowledge of each of the three dimensions. Joe will engage participants in how to assess students’ sensemaking through exploration of phenomena appropriate for elementary students. Joe will guide participants through the practice of modeling, using a base rubric to assess sensemaking, and deepen teachers’ understanding of how science ideas become deeper and more sophisticated over time.
