Outdoor Education Fundraiser

Winners of 2021-22 Outdoor Education Fundraiser Announced

Communities in San Joaquin County raised funds to take students on an educational adventure. Funds raised help pay for students to participate in outdoor education programs, like the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE) Sky Mountain Outdoor Education Center, a year-round opportunity for students to visit "Science Camp" in the High Sierra to engage in inquiry-based learning outdoors.

San Joaquin County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Troy Brown drew the three winning tickets, and the following winners were contacted:

First Place ($3,500): Reba Alvarado

Ticket sold by Shasta Elementary, Manteca Unified School District

Second Place ($1,000): Silverio Guzman

Ticket sold by Ripon Elementary School, Ripon Unified School District

Third Place ($500): Miguel De Casso

Ticket sold by Ripon Elementary School, Ripon Unified School District

All San Joaquin County schools were invited to participate in the raffle coordinated by the SJCOE Educational Foundation (SJCOEEF). This year, 13 schools participated in the raffle, selling 6,892 tickets. Proceeds go directly to the school that sold the tickets for their Outdoor Education trip. The SJCOEEF has stepped up efforts to raise more money during the raffle in recent years, but due to Covid-19, the raffle was canceled in 2020. This year's total came out to $34,470.
