COVID-19 TESTING (Jan. 6 Update)

California Department of Public Health offering at-home, rapid COVID-19 tests to students

The San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE) received approximately 150,000 COVID-19 rapid antigen testing kits from the state on Monday, Jan. 3, which have been collected by school districts in San Joaquin County to distribute to students.

The California Department of Health (CDPH) has increased access to no-cost, at-home COVID-19 antigen rapid tests students in public and charter schools. The tests supplement existing safety measures already in place.  Taking the tests are not required by the state to attend school. However, testing -- along with vaccination, face-covering, improved ventilation, and other safety measures – helps prevent the spread of COVID-19 at schools.
