16th Annual San Joaquin County Construction Trades Fair

Friday, Sept.17, was an exciting day for San Joaquin County CTE students! Juniors and seniors from San Joaquin County high schools learned about construction careers and pathways to Building Trades and Apprenticeships at the 16th Annual Construction Trades Career Fair in Stockton.  Apprenticeship opportunities are “earn as you learn” and are considered by many as the “other four-year degree” after high school.

Representatives from the construction trades programs interacted with students, providing overviews of their careers and how to enter an apprenticeship program. Students took part in exciting hands-on activities that allowed them to sample the skill sets of each, individual trade.

The Construction Trades Fair was organized by the San Joaquin Area Apprenticeships Association in partnership with the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOCE) College and Career Readiness Department and San Joaquin Building Trades Council. The San Joaquin Area Apprenticeship Coordinators Association is made up of 22 apprenticeship programs serving the region. Students from seven school districts and the San Joaquin County Office of Education attended this outdoor event.
