Meet Jacque Chandler

Chandler recognized as Special Education Programs October Educator of the Month

Congratulations to the Special Education Programs October Educator of the Month, Jacque Chandler!

Jacque has dedicated her career to serving children with disabilities and mentoring adults with disabilities. She has been employed with the SJCOE for seven years and currently serves as a teacher at McFall School in Manteca.

Here’s what Jacque has to say about her experience as an educator:

What do you love about teaching?

I love being able to make a difference in the lives of children and families. I love my students and I enjoy just watching them grow no matter how big or small the growth is.

Why did you choose a career in education?
I choose a career in education because I have always had a special place in my heart for individuals with disabilities. I lost my brother when I was nine and the teacher that I had at the time really helped me to get through that tragic time in my life. After that I knew I wanted to teach and to make a difference in young people’s lives the way she did in mine.

What is something your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you?
I sky dived with my mom for my eighteenth birthday.

What makes a good day at school for you?
It is a good day when my students are happy and enjoy what they are doing.

In which other teachers’ class would you like to enroll in even for a day? Why?
Teacher Rochelle’s class. I would like to see how mock classrooms are run.
