SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Taylor Hanlan recognized as August 2019 Educator of the Month

Congratulations to Taylor Hanlan, the August Educator of the Month from San Joaquin County Office of Education’s Special Education Programs!  Taylor has been an educator for four years, three years as a substitute instructional assistant and one year as a teacher.  She currently teaches at Colonial Heights Elementary School.  Here is what Taylor has to share about her experience as an educator.

What do you love about teaching?  What I love most about teaching is being able to watch young children learn. My favorite quote is: “Teachers who love teaching, teach children to love learning."

Why did you choose a career in education?  I chose to work in special education because I am able to watch children grow in all areas.  Each day is a new, unique experience, just like my students.

What is something your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you?  One thing that may surprise my colleagues would be how much I love data collection. Data, data, and more data! #DataIsMyCardio

What makes a good day at school for you?  A “good day” for Room 28 is a quiet one! My classroom has a lot of moving parts and it’s nice when all the students can work in a quiet space.

In which other teacher's class would you like to enroll in even for a day? Why?  If I were to pick a classroom to enroll in, I would pick Joshua Maderios. I have never gotten the opportunity to work alongside him but every time I visit there never fails to be an amazing theme and tons of structure.
