Harnessing the Power of Student Motivation Using Pivotal Response Teaching in Speech Therapy

As rates of autism continue to rise, it has become increasingly important for school-based providers to utilize
evidence-based practices (EBP) in addressing the developmental challenges seen across the autism spectrum. One such EBP is Pivotal Response Teaching (PRT). Rooted in both developmental and behavioral principles, PRT specifies teacher behaviors that are designed to get and maintain a high level of student motivation, as well as maintain and generalize student skills across a variety of settings and people.
