This November, the San Joaquin County Office of Education will bring Stockton its first full-stack code school. Code Stack Academy is a new program operated by CEDR Systems with the goal of creating a strong community of talented programmers in the San Joaquin County area.
During the course, students will be immersed in the world of code and learn everything they need to meet the demands for a career in programming. After completing the month-long Coding Combine, students will move on to the full eight-month Academy Course, in which they will learn object-oriented programming, coding design patterns, database design/development, and system architecture. The program will also cover DevOps, QA, SCRUM/Agile Team Development, and modern software development technologies.
Lodi native Jateen Bhakta will lead instruction at Code Stack Academy. Jateen earned his master's degree in multimedia at California State University, East Bay and went on to co-found Ninja Pandas, an educational technology company that specializes in teaching game development.
In addition to the full Academy Course, Code Stack Academy also offers the three-day Foundation Workshop, which teaches the core concepts of web development and equips students with all the basics to develop simple websites.
Students must be 18+ to register but no previous coding experience is required for either the Foundation Workshop or the Academy Course.
The first Foundation Workshop will take place August 1-3, 2018 in the FabLab at 2911 Transworld Drive, Stockton.
