LSH Spring Symposium - I Didn't Learn This in School:  Comprehensive Assessment and Treatment of Speech Sound Production - Presented by Jody M. Stratton

Thursday, March 22, 2018 - 8:30 - 4:00

Location:  San Joaquin County Office of Education - 2707 Transworld Drive, Stockton, CA - Burwood Auditorium

Workshop Description:

I often have clinicians say “I didn’t learn this in school”
when it comes to comprehensive assessment and
treatment of sound production disorders. Everyone
can give an articulation test but there is much more to
it. This seminar looks at the high level interpretation of
testing results thus guiding the most effective treatment
program. Participants will learn new treatment
strategies to add to their toolbox across all consonant
sounds. This seminar will address sound production
assessment and intervention for all sounds, not just
the usual few. Through reviewing the neurological
process involved in speech production, clinicians will
learn how to administer a comprehensive assessment
to help differentially determine the nature of the
speech disorder. Solid assessment will be used to
drive a ‘percentage plan’ approach to report writing
and set effective goals. Ultimately clinicians will learn
a wealth of practical, no cost, hands-on, sound shaping
tools to use as soon as they head back into work.
