Registration Open Now for Third-Annual H20 Hackathon
High school teams invited to compete for $5,000 prize while developing an app that can help tackle water issues important in California
Calling all San Joaquin County high school students and teachers. It's time for another H20 Hackathon, a unique event that focuses the technological and problem-solving skills of local students to help find solutions to the state's water issues. The team able to create the winning app or game at the daylong competition on March 17 will walk away with the $5,000 Golden Spigot Award, provided by Cal Water.
Registration is open now, and there will be training sessions for teams at the San Joaquin County Office of Education (SJCOE) on Nov. 30 and Jan. 25. These highly recommended training sessions will prepare teams to use the IBM Bluemix development platform they will be building their apps on during the competition.

Organized by the SJCOE and iHub San Joaquin, the H20 Hackathon provides students an opportunity to experience real-world applications of the science, engineering, and other skills they are learning in school. At the same time, the products created by students during the Hackathon could become valuable tools to help California find solutions to some of the problems surrounding issues of water in the state.
The Third-Annual H2O Hackathon will be held at the SJCOE on March 17. Approximately 100 teachers and students will be able to compete.
