The United Way of San Joaquin and other sponsors including the SJCOE have partnered to give the youth community a reason to never lose hope! The Tru Hope Youth Summit aims to help 9th- and 10th-graders focus on strategies to stay safe and make good choices. The one day event includes inspirational speakers, a health faire and expo, and meet and greets with two Hometown Heroes, Dallas Braden, a former pitcher for the Oakland A's and Tyronne Gross, a former American football running back. Also scheduled for the day is the Impact program, which is a series of stories and demonstrations about youth who have made poor choices associated with drugs, drinking, and distracted driving.
