English Learner Leadership Academy (ELLA)

The English Learner Leadership Academy is a three-year comprehensive professional development program designed to create and refine leadership skills among educators advocating for the academic achievement of English Learners.

Participants meet six times per year at the SJCOE facilities for full-day workshops with invited current researchers who focus on a wide variety of English Learner topics. In addition, three afternoon meetings will be scheduled with smaller groups of workshop participants to engage in reflective practice and apply the new ideas and knowledge to their sites/districts.

Participants will further their knowledge of English Learner issues and acquire a repertoire of effective teaching practices, leadership, and support skills.
